Monthly Weight Loss and Pictures

Hey, everyone!

This morning I weighed-in at 166 exactly. Meaning I lost 0.8 lbs for the month and 131 lbs lost so far. Any other month I would have been really disappointed with that number but I'm OK (not happy but OK) with it this month. I couldn't go to the gym the first part of the month because I was really sick and I couldn't go the latter part of the month either because I was in Gulfport, MS visiting my family. Then, with the holidays and all, I let myself splurge a little but I kept myself in-check for the most part.

I hope to lose 3-5 lbs a month from here on out, until I hit my goal weight of 135-145. I say 135-145 because I'm not sure exactly what my goal weight is. It's not really a number so much as it is how I look and feel. I'll know I'm at my goal when I can look at my body and say, "I'm 100% happy to be this size the rest of my life." Then, I will need to maintain that weight the rest of my life. Which I will, by God's grace. :)

I didn't take pictures this morning because I don't think you'll notice a difference in me only losing a little shy of a pound from the last time. Lol. However, here are a few body shots I took in Gulfport. PS: You can see all of my Gulfport vacation pictures here.

Update on the National Fitness Center video and stuff: Jacob, the marketing director for NFC, told me that the company that did the testimonal videos is being really slow and he'll let me know whenever my video gets uploaded. Ads for NFC have been mailed out all over East TN and we've gotten at least three of them with my pictures on them. I'm on (or about to be on, not sure if it's up just yet) a billboard right by the new NFC mega-club in Knoxville. Jacob sent me what the billboard looks like (picture below), I haven't had a chance to go see it in person yet. I'm hoping to get over there to see it soon. :)

Happy New Year's Eve!

Walt Disney World (and comparison pictures)

Hello, everyone!

I've missed you all! *Hugs* :) I got back from Disney World on Monday and am just now catching up on everything.

My DD and I had a great trip! We visited all four parks and got to do and see everything we wanted to in all of them. It was nice being there for seven days and not feeling rushed at all. The only thing we didn't get to do was the hot air balloon at Downtown Disney and that's only because it was too windy.

I did very well in the eating department, which I was kind of nervous about. I only gained 0.2 lbs on my trip.

Click here to see the pictures I uploaded to Facebook. I only uploaded my favorites from the trip because I took so many.

Here are a couple of comparisons from my trip in October of 2010 and this trip ... blows my mind. God is SO good!

Piglet is my FAVORITE Disney character. :)

Be blessed,

Disney World Itinerary

Warning: If you're not a Disney fan, this post will bore you.

My DD (if you're a huge Disney fan, then you know this means "Disney Dad") and I will be at Disney World from Nov. 26th - Dec. 3rd. I'm going to fly and he's going to drive (he lives in Gulfport, MS, so it's not too far). We're both super excited! We went in October of 2010 for four days and although we had a good time, I was miserable because I was pretty much at my heaviest then and my feet and legs were in so much pain that I could hardly walk.

We visited all four parks, one each day (and I mean the WHOLE park!); it was so rushed and we learned from our mistakes. This is our do-over trip and we plan on doing it right! We've been planning this trip for well over a year. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort last time (the one that's right next to the Magic Kingdom with the monorail running through it) and we're staying there this time, too.

Side note: In case you're wondering why it's just my DD and I going, it's because my mom and Brad have NO interest whatsoever in Disney. Party poopers! :-P

We're on the Disney deluxe dining plan which means we get three meals a day. Breakfast always consists of a buffet for us and for lunch and dinner both of us get an appetizer, entree and dessert at the restaurant of our choice (we've researched and picked the places that we want to eat and made reservations to ensure we get in). Plus, we get two snack credits a day. It's a lot of yummy food to eat but there's also a ton of walking, so they kind of even each other out. Last time I didn't gain a pound and my DD lost weight. I'm hoping it will be the same this time.

Ok, here's our itinerary (I left out some details like park times and meal times, so it's not as much to read -- plus, I doubt you care. Ha!):

And the Winner Is ...

Meeeee! I can't believe it; I'm still in shock!

I never in my life would have thought that I would be in a contest that had to do with weight loss, much less win! I'm so grateful to be an inspiration to people and am so thankful to God for everything. I could have never made it this far without Him. And thank you to National Fitness Center for having this contest and selecting me as the winner.

I got a nice plaque and $500, which is very nice. :)

They told me that my pictures would be used for advertising and that the video interview I did should be up sometime in the next few days.

Here are some pictures ...

Monthly Weight Loss and Pictures

Hey, everyone!

This is going to be really short because I'm tired and want to kick back with my family for the night. :)

This morning I weighed-in at 166.8 for a total of 4 lbs lost this month and 130.2 lbs lost so far.

Here are my pictures for the month:

Note: Not that anyone probably cares, but I do -- my hair looks a mess and I have hardly any makeup on because this is before I went to work this morning (I don't dress up to babysit). :-P

Much love,

PS: I won't be posting a weight-loss blog at the end of next month because I'll be at Disney World *big cheesy smile*. I'll post a blog about the plans for that trip sometime before I leave.

NFC Update #2

Hey, everyone!

I'll make this short and sweet ....

I got another email today from the marketing director at NFC telling me that I am one of the three winners! They are holding a small awards ceremony for the three of us on November 1st to announce what place we're each in and give us our prizes. The winner gets $500 cash, as I wrote before, but they changed second place to $300 worth of prizes and third place to $200 worth of prizes. I'll post a blog on the 1st and let you all know what happened! :)

Until next time,

NFC Update

Howdy! :)

I got an email a couple of days ago from the marketing director at NFC telling me that they are running a direct mail piece and want to include my 'before' and current 'after' photo in it. They told me they would mail me a copy when it goes to print (and, of course, I will share it with you all).

I'm honored to be featured. I never in my life thought I'd be featured in anything for weight-loss. I asked about the contest because I hadn't heard anything since the video shoot and he said that they will be announcing the winners at the end of the month. So, I'll let you guys know when I know.

I hope you're all having a great weekend!

Jeans

Hey, everyone!

I just wanted to update everyone on my jeans situation.

I'm not jeanless anymore. Yay! I got them just in time, too. The weather has been getting pretty cold on some days. I found a couple pairs of jeans on the 6th. I've just been a bad blogger and haven't written about them yet. My good friend, Corena, read my semi-rant about not being able to find jeans and called me up and said, "We're going to find you some jeans."

So, after trying on about 60 more pairs of jeans, I finally found some. Yes, they still do that thing I wrote about but not nearly as bad. I'll take a picture in one of the pairs I got for my monthly weight-loss blog.

I found a pair at American Eagle and in JCPenney juniors department. Corena told me to always look for jeans in the juniors department. Their stuff is much cuter and I think that they fit better than most ladies jeans (on me at least).

Thanks to everyone who wrote me about that post. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has problems finding jeans.

I hope you have a great week!

Monthly Weight Loss and Pictures

Hey, beautiful people!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I sure did. I'm just loving fall! :)

My mother-in-law, Sandy, is here visiting and Brad and I have been having a nice time with her, as always.

Tomorrow is Brad's 35th birthday. Instead of making a cake for his birthday, I made him Dutch Apple Pie completely from scratch. I've never made a pie before and have always wanted to. So, since Sandy was here and she makes pies a lot, I had her talk me through it and I did everything myself (besides peeling and slicing the apples, to save time). I took a picture of the pie before I baked it and after ... the after is missing a piece because Brad couldn't wait to tear into it. Lol. It came out really well, if I do say so myself. :-P You can see some pictures we took here.

I weighed-in this morning at 170.8, which means I lost 3.8 lbs this month for a total of 126.2 lbs lost so far. I never made it into the 160s like I wanted to but I'm still very happy with that number, considering that I now am only getting to the gym three days a week, compared to six in previous months, due to my new job (which is going great, BTW) and that I'm getting smaller. My monthly weight-loss goal has always been at least five lbs a month and I'm still definitely shooting for that but I'm completely fine with losing three to five lbs now.

Here are my pictures for the month:

The Camera Is Not My Friend

My video shoot for National Fitness Center was this morning. I was up late last night practicing what I was going to say, as well as this morning. I was a nervous wreck, to say the least.

Just when I started getting semi-comfortable with what I needed to say, I found out that it was going to be a question and answer type of thing. I never got the email that everyone else got about what all was going to happen today. The girl felt really bad and I kept reassuring her it was ok. However, because I never got the email, I never knew I was suppposed to wear my gym clothes. I was the only one dressed up.

So, while everyone got filmed doing their favorite workout, my workout clips consisted of my feet getting filmed dancing and me fake laughing on an exercise ball. Lol! Please, try to imagine how goofy this looked. Haha! :o)

When it came time to do the interview, I was very impressed with how professional everything was. The three people doing the questions and video were super nice and made me feel as comfortable as I could have felt in that setting.

I was so nervous and it REALLY showed. Even though I knew how to answer the questions they were asking me, the words just didn't come out right and most of the time I just kind of froze and forgot what questions they asked or forgot what I was saying in the middle of saying it. It was BAD! Lol.

Because they were so nice, they assured me that I did a great job and that the video guy would edit everything and make me look great ... we shall see! My face also decided it wanted to break out really badly today, which was wonderful. I sure hope I don't look as stupid as I felt.

After today, I don't have high hopes that I will win but there's always a chance. I haven't completely given up hope. I know this sounds corny but I'm already a winner in my book for getting this far. We're supposed to find out in a few weeks who the winners are. The NFC higher-ups are going to be the ones picking the winners. Once I see the video, and IF I like it ok, I'll share it with you guys. If not, well ... then I won't. Don't get your hopes up about seeing it. Ha! :-P

I'm still not positive about what all they plan on doing with the videos and all of that (they told me but I was too nervous to process everything). I hope I gave you all a good laugh for today. :-D

Your foot-dancing friend,

I'm a Finalist ...

Hey, guys!

A few weeks ago, our east Tennessee gym chain, National Fitness Center, held a testimonal contest. I sent in my story with a before and current picture along with my blog link and pretty much forgot about it. Well, I got an email a couple of weeks ago telling me that I'm a finalist. There are 12 finalists total. The winner receives $500 and second and third place winners receive a prize worth up to $500. I'm not sure if they plan on doing anything with the winner's testimonal and pictures or not ... I'm guessing they will probably do something with them.

I got the call yesterday telling me that I need to be at my gym this Saturday at 12:00 and that I have one minute to tell about my journey in a video shoot. How do I even begin to explain my journey in one minute? The lady told me to practice what I'm going to say, so Brad is going to help me on Friday. To say I'm nervous is an understatement. Lol.

The winners will be picked based on the video shoot. I'm not sure when we'll find out the winners. I'm also not sure if the gym chain leaders will be the ones voting or if they will be putting it online for anyone to vote. I'll find out soon enough! I would love to win, of course, but I am beyond thankful and honored to have even been chosen as a finalist. It just reminds me how far I've come.

PLEASE pray for me! I'm not good speaking in front of people and a camera will probably make it that much harder (especially with the pressure of only having one minute to say what I need to). Oh, and they are shooting it in the personal training room which is surrounded by glass so everyone can see in. Haha! :-P

I'll post again on Saturday and tell you all how it went.

Love,

A Whole New World

Where do I even begin?

First off, let me say, I am SO thankful for all of the weight I have lost and will continue to lose by God's grace. I wouldn't trade it for anything ... even the frustration that I'm currently dealing with.

With that being said, losing 122 lbs takes you to a whole new world of clothing and I'm having a really hard time with it. It's so weird not having to shop in the plus-size section of department stores anymore. I'm having to relearn where everything is and getting to totally discover stores that I've never even been able to shop in before but that's not a big deal at all -- it's even kind of fun.

The issue is clothes not fitting me right. I'm not exaggerating when I say that in the past week, I've tried on around 60 pairs of jeans. NONE of them fit me right. Why? Because for a size 12, my calves are big. They're very muscular from carrying around so much weight for so long; plus, of course, I'm not at my goal, so there is still some fat that could be lost. So, pants will fit me perfectly, except for bunching up on the back of my leg above my knee because my big calves are preventing them from hanging properly or something. It looks so ugly and abnormal.

I've tried Belk, JC Penney, Cato, Target, Walmart, Old Navy, American Eagle, Gap, Burlington, etc. I literally own zero pairs of pants right now and cold weather is right around the corner. I had the same problem with capris this summer but thankfully was able to find some that didn't do it. Like I've said before in past posts, until I hit my goal, I try not to buy many clothes each season -- just enough to get me by with a week's worth of outfits or so. Every season I have to start from scratch; this gets very expensive and frustrating (but I'm still thankful).

I'm not your typical girl when it comes to shopping for clothes ... I hate it. If I could just pick something up off the rack without trying it on and know that it's going to fit me perfectly, then I would probably love clothes shopping but that just simply isn't the case. I also am having a really hard time with tops. I wear a size medium in most stores but because of how big my arms still are (loose skin ... that's a whole other blog post) the arm's are way too tight in a lot of the tops I try on. I just thought that when I got down to where I am now, I wouldn't have an issue with clothes and that shopping would be fun. I guess I'm going to just have to look ridiculous wearing bunched up jeans this winter because I don't have a choice. If I had never gotten fat, I wouldn't be having any of these issues with clothes. But I did get fat and I'm having to deal with the consequences, even after having gotten most of the weight off.

There are other things that I could go on about but I think I've said enough. My intention isn't to complain. I hate complaing because it sounds like I'm not thankful but I'll say it again ... I AM thankful and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I mainly wanted to write this because I know that a lot of my readers want to know ALL about my journey -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- because they are on their own journey or just starting out themselves. I just want to be real and let you know that there are some parts about losing weight that aren't so great (i.e., the loose skin) but it still beats being unhealthy and fat.

Please pray that I can find some pants and some fall/winter clothes that I feel good in. I've worked really hard and at least want to feel good about what I'm wearing.

Thank you,

Monthly Weight Loss with Pictures

Hey, everyone!

I hope you all have been doing well. I've been blessed! I picked up another child-care job this month which makes me super-busy now between work, gym, wifely duties (cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, etc.), and family time. You can forget about the new gym schedule that I came up with on my last post; it's totally different now because of this new job. I'm now only getting to the gym on Monday, Friday and Saturday. So, that cuts it down from six days a week to three days a week. I will have to make those three days count! I will say that I do get quite a bit of excercise bouncing babies and running around with kids. I even break a sweat, so that's good (although it's nothing like being at the gym). I still want to lose 5 lbs a month but with only getting to the gym three times a week now (and getting smaller ... it's not dropping off as fast), it's going to be a lot harder but that's not going to stop me from trying!

Ok, so what you're waiting to hear... How did I do this month?

I weighed-in this morning at 174.6, which means I lost 5.2 lbs this month for a total of 122.4 lbs lost so far. I'll take it! :) I hope to make it into the 160s next month.

Here are my pictures for this month:

PS: Also, because I just simply haven't had the time, I wasn't able to blog about getting to meet one of my favorite bands, Tenth Avenue North. They did an acoustic set inside the Lifeway store in Knoxville for 45 minutes and it was amazing! I was in the front row and could see them perfectly. It was great getting to meet them and have their new CD signed. I posted some pictures on Facebook. You can see them here. :-D

Oh, and Pumpkin Spice drinks are back at Starbucks as of today. I'm so excited; Fall is in the air! I'm stocked up on my Bath & Body Works Fall wallflowers, candles and handsoaps. I've also pinned quite a few yummy Fall recipes on Pinterest that I'm looking forward to trying. Can you tell Fall is my favorite season? I have all of my Fall decor ready to put up, too. Hehe.

Love,

Back to the Grind

Hola, everyone!

After our Gulfport trip, Brad and I took a little break from the gym. We just started back today. It was nice to have a little break but it's so nice to get back into our routine. I can't imagine my life without the gym anymore. As cheesy as it sounds, it's like therapy to me. I can definitely feel a difference working out after not going for a while.

I've decided that I'm going to give a new routine a try. I usually wait until the evening to go to the gym because I'm way more of a night person than a morning person but I know it's better for you to go in the morning and get your metabolism going for the day. So, my new routine looks like this:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: I'll be at the gym from 9:15-10:15 doing hardcore cardio. Some days I'll do cardio for 45 minutes and weights for 15 minutes.

Tuesday evening I have my Zumba class from 6:45-7:45 (sometimes I get there 30 minutes early and get a pre-Zumba workout in) and Saturday morning I have Zumba again from 10:30-11:30.

Sunday will be my break from the gym.

Of course, I still get out-of-the-gym exercise as well, like taking Oopsie for walks, cleaning, shopping, etc. (You can really work up a sweat trying on clothes!)

I'm not sure how long I'll stick with this routine; it depends of the results I get ... but I'm giving it a shot! :-D

I hope you have a great week!

I'm Still Here

Hey, everyone!

It feels like forever since I've posted. Sorry about not being a better blogger! My life isn't THAT exciting so I run out of things to blog about. :-P

I went to Ohio earlier last month which I posted about and then Brad, Oopsie and I went on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Gulfport this past week to visit my family and friends. We had a great time as always. Needless to say, I never got a chance to post my monthly weight loss and photos blog yesterday. I decided that I'm just going to skip it for July (can you believe it's August already?!)  and continue as normal at the end of this month. I never lost anything this month anyway with all of the traveling and what-not. So, stay tuned for my blog at the end of this month. :)

I posted pictures from my trip on my Facebook page. You can see them here.

Below is my favorite picture from my trip. My friend, Jessica, who is a photographer, took it.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Much love,

Chelse's Visit

Disclaimer: The picture below is not the greatest of Chelse or me but it will have to do. :)

Hey, everyone!

For those of you who didn't read my last blog, I'll fill you in on Chelse. Chelse is a lovely girl who found me on Blogger and contacted me about my weight loss. She wanted to know all about what I've done to lose the weight and I told her to just call me. We hit it off on the phone and decided that she should come visit; she lives three hours away in Kentucky. She came to visit on Sunday afternoon and left this morning. We had a great time together.

We went to the gym all three days that she was here. She wanted me to be her 'personal trainer' and push her harder than she's ever been pushed and I think it's safe to say that I did my job and did it well. Lol.

She almost puked the first day. Haha! :) She did very well all three days; I'm proud of her. I just wanted to show her that her body is capable of more than she thinks and that when her head is saying that she can't, she can. We're going to keep in touch and, Lord willing, have more visits in the future. Please pray for her as she begins her own weight-loss journey.

Random Ramblings

Hey, guys!

Brad and I got back from Ohio on Thursday evening. We had really bad weather pretty much the whole way home. I'm talking like we couldn't even see the road because it was raining so hard weather. Plus, we got some hail. Thank God it didn't damage our car. Right before we turned onto our street, tree branches started smashing against our car window. The 70 MPH wind gusts just came out of nowhere. We couldn't believe our window didn't break! Literally, as soon as I walked inside and turned on the living room light, the power went off and I heard a transformer blow. We unpacked with a flashlight and then went to the gym and showered and brushed our teeth around 10:00. Our power came back on around 1:30 AM and I am SO thankful because it's been super hot.

We had a great time visiting family. Everyone was shocked when they saw me and told me how great I look, which was a great feeling.

Oh, I went to Cedar Point twice; it was awesome! The heat, however, was not. It was 100 degrees! I have never sweat so much outside of a gym in my life. I rode the world's tallest roller coaster twice. They have some pretty darn awesome coasters and rides.

My birthday was great! My mother-in-law, Sandy, had a cookout at her house and some family came out. She got me a beautiful pair of 14k gold genuine diamond heart earrings that are a little over one-half carat each. I've wanted a pair ever since I got my wedding ring (it's a diamond heart, as well). I absolutely love them! Speaking of my wedding ring, I miss wearing it so much. It's huge on me and I don't want to get it resized until I'm around my goal weight. *Sigh* In time, in time.

Here are pictures on Facebook from my trip: Ohio Trip, June '12

In other news, I met an amazing girl named Chelse who found me on Blogger; she lives in Kentucky. We talked on the phone before I left for Ohio and hit it off right away. She's such a sweetie! She's coming to visit tomorrow and staying until Wednesday morning (she only lives three hours away). She's starting her own weight-loss journey. So, she wants me to show her what I do, how I eat and to be her 'personal trainer' at the gym. I can't wait! :-D I feel so blessed to be able to help others. It brings me so much joy!

I'll blog about my visit with Chelse when she leaves and fill everyone in on how it went. :)

Blessings,

Monthly Weight Loss with Pictures

Howdy, folks!

This month has been crazy! I have seriously been non-stop. Pretty much the whole first half of the month I only got to the gym a couple of times because I was working so much and then about the last week and a half I had to really push myself harder than usual at the gym because I hadn't lost anything.

My 5-lb weight-loss goal seemed impossible. I knew I was going to be posting today instead of the 30th because Brad, Oopsie and I are leaving for Ohio tomorrow morning to visit family for a week. So, that made it even harder because I never got a full month in. However, I am very happy to say that I weighed-in this morning at 179.8 which means I lost a total of 5.2 lbs this month for a total of 117.2 so far.

Yay! I'm in the 170s! Hard work and determation really pay off.

I probably won't blog again until I return from Ohio because I'll be so busy. In which time, I'll be 25! Yep, it's that time again. My birthday is on Friday. It's hard to believe that I'm going to be halfway through my 20s. Time really does fly by. I'm so thankful to God for every year He blesses me with!

Here are my pictures for this month ...

Oh, I also wanted to include my old and new drivers license pictures. My old one was taken on 2-12-2009 and my new one was taken Monday. I can't believe it's the same person! It's crazy what losing weight can do!

PS: I know my face still is still a bit chubby. I'm not at my goal yet. In time ... :)

Until next time,

Ice Skating and Droid

Brad and I went ice skating yesterday. It was his first time going and my second. My first time it took me about 30 minutes and I was flying around the rink. I thought this time it would take my a while to get the hang of it again but once I got out there it was only a matter of minutes until I was flying around again.

Brad, on the other hand, was a different story. LOL! He pretty much stayed to the railing the whole time. The first time he let go and stepped away from the railing he took a hard fall, legs flew open and everything. I about peed my pants. LOL! We were both cracking up! He bruised his wrist (which is feeling much better today) but he kept going, hanging onto the railing again. Well, he let go a couple of times, one time he made it one full lap around without falling and then shortly after when I wasn't looking, he fell again and said he was done after that because it killed his wrist when he fell.

I'm proud of him for trying. :) I wish I would have taken some pictures but I forgot!

In more news, I finally got a smartphone. Yay! I know, I'm really behind. After much research, I ordered the Droid Razr Maxx. It's supposed to arrive Tuesday. I already have a huge list of apps that I want to download. I know I'm going to be totally lost at first but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in no time ... and have fun doing so!

What are your favorite apps? Maybe I'll give them a try.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Monthly Weight Loss with Pictures

Hey, everyone!

Today I weighed-in at exactly 185, which brings me to a total of 6.6 lbs lost this month and 112 lbs total lost. I am focusing more on cardio now than weights because I have tons of muscle under the extra fat and once I get all of this extra fat off, I don't want to look like a man. I still do weights some, just not nearly as much.

I can see some major changes in my body this month. For example, I totally have an ab outline! You have no idea how exciting this is to me! :-D I thought I was doomed to see rolls on my stomach the rest of my life.

Another change I've made this month is that I've started drinking protein shakes. Every 2-3 days I have a protein shake as my lunch. I get the vanilla whey and mix it with almond milk. It's very satisfying.

Alright, so without further ado, here are my pictures for the month.

Here are a couple of up-close face shots, too.
