Monthly Weight Loss with Pictures

Hey, everyone!

Today I weighed-in at exactly 185, which brings me to a total of 6.6 lbs lost this month and 112 lbs total lost. I am focusing more on cardio now than weights because I have tons of muscle under the extra fat and once I get all of this extra fat off, I don't want to look like a man. I still do weights some, just not nearly as much.

I can see some major changes in my body this month. For example, I totally have an ab outline! You have no idea how exciting this is to me! :-D I thought I was doomed to see rolls on my stomach the rest of my life.

Another change I've made this month is that I've started drinking protein shakes. Every 2-3 days I have a protein shake as my lunch. I get the vanilla whey and mix it with almond milk. It's very satisfying.

Alright, so without further ado, here are my pictures for the month.

Here are a couple of up-close face shots, too.

Gotta Love Him!

Hey, everyone!

I just had to share this with you all ...

Brad and I were reading the book of Job and came across this verse. We busted out laughing and the idea for this t-shirt was instantly born.

PS: My dear husband doesn't really have bad breath. :)

Smiles,

Amy's Broccoli Salad

Hey, everyone!

I'm getting ready to go to a church potluck today and I made my yummy broccoli salad, so I figured I'd share the recipe with you all. It's healthier than a normal broccoli salad because I use turkey bacon, fat-free cheddar cheese and light miracle whip. I get so many compliments on it every time I make it and I always take home an empty bowl. I highly suggest it. :) Warning: It is addictive.

Ingredients:
2 large bunches of broccoli - stems and all (chopped)
4 slices turkey bacon (chopped)
Red onion to taste (chopped)
Fat-free cheddar cheese to taste
Red grapes to taste (chopped in half)
Sweet Peas (thawed from freezer) to taste

Try to get as much water off of the ingredients that need to be washed as you can by using a paper towel or something so the sauce doesn't get runny and it sticks better.

Mix together and set aside to make the sauce.

Sauce:
1 cup light miracle whip
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Toss broccoli mixture with the sauce and enjoy!

PS: I highly recommend not eating this leftover because it gets runny. You can store the sauce and broccoli mixture seprately and just toss before eating, if you don't plan on eating it all when you make it.

"How Are You Losing the Weight?"

I get asked, "How are you losing the weight?" all the time and have written back to many people explaining how I've done it, so I figured it was about time to blog about it.

First of all, I'm not on any diet or anything. I don't believe in diets. Yes, they may work temporarily but not long-term (for me, at least).

Exercise: I work out four or five times a week for 1-2 hours each time. I usually do 10-20 minutes of cardio and then 30 minutes or so of weights, then finish up with more cardio. I also take my precious little Chihuahua, Oopsie, on walks a lot when the weather is nice. It doesn't feel like a workout and I enjoy it. BONUS! :-D

Eating: I eat healthy but I also don't deprive myself of anything. I try to stay away from saturated and trans fats and lots of sugar and try to only eat 1200 calories a day but I don't count or anything; I just kind of have an idea. I still love my freshly baked cookies, cupcakes, Chinese, Japanese, etc. I just control how much of stuff like that I eat by portion size and how often I eat it. I also try to drink a good amount of water each day and try not to drink my calories, although I still enjoy my Starbucks or something like that a couple of times a month. Again, it's all about how often and how much. I also pretty much put a stop to eating just to eat. I ask myself, "Is this head hunger (just craving or wanting food) or am I truly hungry (is my stomach growling or something)?" And then make my decision from there.

Tip: I had no idea how many calories are in the food at restaurants. I mean, how do they put that many calories into what you would think would be healthy food? I always go to the restaurant of choice's website and see if they have nutritional information and, if they do, I pick out my choice ahead of time so I know what I'm getting is healthy. If they don't, I Google the restaurant and the item or meal on the restaurant's online menu that I think I might get because there are quite a few websites out there that have the nutritional information for it. That has really helped me.

Lord willing, I know that this will work for me for the rest of my life because I don't feel deprived or like I'm missing out because I'm on some diet and craving foods that I can't have.

I hope this has answered some of your questions.

Hope you all are having a great week!

PS: My "Follow by Email" is fixed. Yay!

Also, I've had a few people ask me how tall I am. I'm 5'7". My pictures make me look like I have no legs because my husband is tall and he's the one taking the pictures. We're going to really work on not making me look like I have stump legs next time. LOL!
